Character concept designs done through collage.
A volunteer project where myself and a group of peers created a narrative story map was created showing the work and history of both the Necanicum Watershed Council and the Chinook Indian Nation was created. I was tasked with creating illustrations depicting how certain areas of the basin would change in the coming years due to the restoration work being done. I also created icons for several interactive maps.
Thompson Creek is a highly productive ESA-listed and Evolutionarily Significant Unit of coho and steelhead stream with direct drainage into Stanley Marsh and the Necanicum Estuary in Seaside, Oregon. In partnership with North Coast Land Conservancy and the Chinook Indian Nation, the Necanicum Watershed Council will remove these major fish passage barriers to allow access to 0.5 miles of high-quality fish habitat.
The Necanicum Watershed Council in partnership with Nuveen Natural Capital and the Chinook Indian Nation promoted the decommission and removal of a timber road and undersized culvert in a stream of the Necanicum River. Together with the placement of large woody debris structures as well as replanting of riparian banks, this work enhanced stream complexity and improved nearly 1.6 miles of fully volitional salmonid habitat.
Ideation and assets created for the project.
Icons of a Coho Salmon, Chinook Salmon, Salmon egg, and Elk, all local to the Necanicum Basin in Oregon WA.
A map showing where restoration work was being done in the Necanicum Basin. I did not create this map, but illustrated the icons used in it. Salmon eggs were used to show projects that were in progress and the Coho Salmon was used to represent projects that had finished.
Artistic reconstruction of the Ares statue from the West pediment of the Parthenon. The statue, now found in the British Museum, is missing its hands, feet and nose, all of these have been added back in. It is believed that Ares was either holding a spear or cup in his hand and most likely had a helmet or some sort of adornment upon his head.
